Omalo is at an altitude of 1880 meters, it is located in between the Caucasus mountain range and the northern slopes of the Caucasus. Due to the roads, this territory is cut off from the rest of Georgia for half an year.

Nowadays there are new and old Omalo. From Old Omalo, which was built in the XVIII century, people started to come down and started to live there thats why this place was called New Omal.

Old Omalo, so the Kaselo castle was built in the XVIII century. Omalo residents earlier used to collect in this castle, then gradually down to the village, the current Omalo (new) is already on the plains. According to the people from the village used to stay in this castle during the attacks of Shamil and Lezgins.
